The birth of Lord Krishna is one of the most celebrated events in Hindu mythology. Lord Krishna is believed to be the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu and is revered as the god of love, compassion, and wisdom. The story of his birth is filled with wonder and enchantment. 

According to the story, Lord Krishna was born in Mathura, in northern India. His parents, King Vasudeva and Queen Devaki, were devoted worshippers of Lord Vishnu. However, their happiness was short-lived when Devaki’s brother, Kamsa, usurped the throne and became a tyrant. Kamsa had a prophecy that a child born to Devaki and Vasudeva would be the cause of his downfall. To prevent this, he imprisoned Devaki and Vasudeva and killed all their children as soon as they were born.

However, when Devaki became pregnant with Lord Krishna, Lord Vishnu appeared to Vasudeva and instructed him to take the newborn to a village called Gokul, where he would be safe. On the night of Lord Krishna’s birth, Vasudeva sneaked out of the prison and carried the newborn to Gokul. It was a dark and stormy night, and the river Yamuna was in spate. As Vasudeva crossed the river, he felt a divine presence guiding him, and miraculously, the waters parted to make way for him. 

When Vasudeva reached Gokul, he found that another child, a baby girl, had been born to Yashoda and Nanda, a couple who lived there. He exchanged his newborn son with the baby girl, who was none other than Lord Krishna’s divine sister, Yogmaya. Vasudeva then carried Yogmaya back to Mathura, where Kamsa was waiting to kill her. But Yogmaya transformed herself into a goddess and warned Kamsa of his impending death at the hands of Lord Krishna. 

The story of the birth of Lord Krishna is a tale of devotion, sacrifice, and divine intervention. It reminds us that even in the darkest of times, the light of hope and faith can guide us to safety. Lord Krishna’s birth is celebrated every year with great joy and devotion by millions of Hindus around the world, and his message of love and wisdom continues to inspire people of all ages and cultures.
